Maybe, but I also can see that their bandwidth costs must be outrageous.
Call me crazy, but I don't think paying 99 cents for a month of streaming is all that outrageous, or $36 a year for Pandora One.
Everything has a cost. $1 a month is not unreasonable.
Personally I pay the $36 a year to totally eliminate the ads and get the better quality streams.

Exactly, and they aren't getting rid of free access, so the occasional user can still listen without paying. This is certainly a lot better than the alternative. It does seem unfair that Pandora has to pay all this money but terrestrial stations don't pay a dime in royalties.

I haven't used Pandora, my music choice being Slacker. I suspect that Slacker may do the same thing in the future, but, for now I listen all the time for free.
