View Full Version : This place is dead
Where is everyone? It seems like nobody posts here except the moderators....this place needs to close down.
Hey, its a ALTERNATIVE!! Now I would like to see more traffic too, but it hs grown a lot from zero where it started. Right now the merger is waiting for approval, the lawsuits over must carry are dragging thu the courts, and the holidays are here. This depresses posting.....
I am SO BUSY as a post op after loosing 94 pounds, and being distracted my my wifes approaching surgery December 10th, let alone our house guests I have little time to post here. I could liven up things a bit if days suddenly had 30 hours in them. But I do check here daily.
Now lets just wait for some juicy additions, speculations and the release of the 721.
Lots to talk about when this stuff starts occuring...
Besides just the presence of this board can have a moderating influence on the MODERATORS of DBSForums.......
Things have slowed down a bit. I have no doubt that with merger talk and the release of the 721 discussion on this board will start to increase.
Steve
If you think DBSForums is so much better then why are you here? I get such a kick out of people who knock this place but continue to visit. This especially shows in the number of hits we get per day. There is so much lurking going on that it makes me wonder if for some this is the forum you love to hate.
I love this site ... though I mostly bowse. Where else can you hear from bob Haller. Personally I think DBS Forums is pretty slow as well. Keep this site as there are alot of us browsers around.
I personally like this site. It is a good alternative to DBSForums.
I come to read what Bob Haller has to say too! He's sorely missed at DBSForums.com. That place is very boring now and the moderation is even more anal retentive. They won't let you discuss channels you hope would be added. see: www.dbsforums.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000540.html (http://www.dbsforums.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000540.html)
Bob sorely missed at DBSForums? In your eyes perhaps, but in mine ....na, not in the slightest.
I find it very distasteful that every month or so someone has to jump in and say one site is better than the other. The Admins here and the Admins there can explain all they choose as to purpose and agenda of their respective sites until the cows come home .. to no avail.
And DKC, for what it's worth, Chris is far more anal retentitive than I am - just ask him and I'm sure he'll agree.
FWIW: I enjoy coming here to browse 3-4 times a week. I rarely post, but I rarely post 'over there' as well. After seven years of posting, reading information and debunking alledged information, what's left to say? :)
I must admit my life is MUCH less stressful not having to worry about being called on the carpet for everything I posted. :(
I stand on my record, much of my predictions and insider info comes true. Some things get rejected at the last moment or delayed for awhile.....
John you said to let you know when my HC1a blood sugar level was below 6. Well I have lost 94 pounds, feel great and am scheduled for blood work in a month or so. My PCP says it should be normal:) My sugars in the am are typically around 84 and my last hc1a was 7.1 but that was just 2 months post op. Incidently I am OFF all prescription drugs, including amaryl and glucophage for diabetes and priinivil for high blood pressure.
Theres a thread in the potoppori forum with my weight loss diary.
Jen my wife gets the same surgery december 10th.
The HbA1c test (hemoglobin A1c test or glycosylated hemoglobin test) is a lab
test which reveals average blood glucose over a period of two to three
months. Specifically, it measures the number of glucose molecules attached to
hemoglobin, a substance in red blood cells.
The test takes advantage of the lifecycle of red blood cells. Although constantly
replaced, individual cells live for about four months. So by measuring attached
glucose in a current blood sample, average blood sugar levels over the
previous two to three months can be determined.
HbA1c test results are expressed as a percentage, with 4 to 6 % considered
normal. The HbA1c "big picture" complements the day to day "snapshots"
obtained from the self-monitoring of blood glucose (mg/dl).
Bob you don't have to explain anything to John. There are alot of people here who do accept you for who you are. I appreciate the posts that you do here and did appreciate the posts you made in the other forum as well. I think you kind of got railroaded there.
Anyway, keep up your predictions on your posts, keep posting as you have always done. You are correct alot of the time on your information that you pass on.
Hell, I wish that Charles Ergen could be half as accurate on the stuff that he promises will happen SOON with his own company as you are on your predictions in your posts.
I've only waited 18- 20 months for their long anticipated upgrade on the 4700 receivers. If he waits much longer we'll either be replaced with the new receivers after the merger or the 4700 receivers I have now will just quit working.
Bob, I wish you and your wife Jen a very merry Christmas and wish the best for you and your wife Jen with your health problems.... I hope everything goes very well for Jen during her surgery and after as well.
snagel, thank you very much.
I am happy to pass along what I can, I am hoping for a DP upgrade path once the 721s come out.
or why they would use this forumas a place to attack a particular individual.
If this forum is not your cup of tea use another one.
If a particular post does not meet with your approval post the reasons it does not.
But I for one don't care for personal attacks.

That's great Bob - glad to hear you're hanging in there!
My Hba1c is at 6 and holding !
John, Glad to hear your doing well.
Why do you want DBSTALK to shut down? Are you THAT afraid of it? If you'll look, posting at DBSFORUMS is down too (I use both) and I think it's because there's currently nothing interesting in satellite TV (EXCEPT THAT DISH IS GETTING RID OF ABC FAMILY:( :( :( )
What do you mean there's nothing to discuss? Why at DBSForums there are all kinds of interesting discussions going on. There are the dreaded anti-satellite cable adds, not to mention ATT cable modems going dark (theres a DBS topic for you), not to mention that the cable company won't offer people free and/or cheap locals when their DBS company won't provide them. Once in a while someone starts a topic that isn't cable related.
