I am not sure where to post this so I am hoping "General Discussion" is the right place.

I have 1 credit card and it does NOT get used at retail level. It is used to pay 3 monthly recurring bills of which one is D*. The bank sent a new card because of a security breach. They will not tell me anything except there is "Federal investigation" that will be made public at a later date.

I am wondering if 1) anyone here has their CC on file with D*, and 2) if the same happened to them. I just want to know where the breach is. This is the third time this has happened to me in 5 years. The last 2 times, I was notified by the retailers before I even got a replacement card.

I use my credit card to Autopay my D* bill and no credit security breach here. Must be one of the other two companies that you pay with your credit card.

Could be a breach within the bank affecting a group of accounts, not just yours.

The bank that issued the card could've had someone hack into their computers. A friend of mine's credit union had a breach like that and they sent him a new card.

More likely to be a breach on the bank's security triggering a reissue of the card than a third party.

I think I'd change banks/credit card issuers since this is now the third time it's happened.

There was a breach at a company that processes credit card payments. One of my accounts sent me a new card. And it's not the one I use to pay DirecTV.

Do worry about it. Just keep an eye on your statement....

Well just recently there was a breach at a credit processing place out east and hundreds of thousands of credit cards and personal information were possibly stolen. Happens all the time unfortunately. Always keep an eye on your statements.

Actually, it was Citi Bank. ExxonMobil MC, had it for yrs. Get !% back toward Gas and 3% at an Exxon or Mobil pump. First time was someone's phone order. Bank admitted the actual account number was close to mine, I wrote that off as bad luck. Next time I was e-mailed by an online retailer that their system was breached and they had already notified the bank. This time it hit me because we haven't used it at retail in over 3 years. It's relegated to bill paying only.

Thanks for all the input. You're probably right. It was probably at a processing center.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of months ago with my Suntrust Check Card. The bank said that a third party processing center got breached so they sent me a new card. One thing I found odd was that they didn't close the card. They were still letting automatic payments go through so if someone had my number they could sign up for something as long as it was a recurring charge.

I had the bank cancel the card immediatly. I just thought it stupid to allow those charges to still go through.

I got one of those nice letters a couple of months ago by my bank.. Boy do i love going thru all my bill payment sites that use that card and have to switch them all...

People need to get a life instead of creating havoc on other peoples accounts. :nono2:

Am I right?

I'll just say this, It sounds like an internal issue, rather than an external one, because if its external, I expect you'd have seen false charges on your card before it was caught...
