Whats The deal with the new bigger dishes?

I used to have DTV and I had a small "3 eyed" dish. Now when I look around I see those giant DTV dishes popping up all over. Even one eyed dishes, but they look like they have enough room for 4 or 5 eyes. Are these dishes like a new universal dish they are now using for all installations, or maybe being used for HD applications? They look bigger than the super dish that dish used to use.

You must have had the Phase III dish which received the 101, 110, and 119 satellites. The new dishes have 5 LNBs housed in three assemblies or 3 LNBs housed in just one assembly. The former receives 99, 101, 103, 110 and 119 satellites. The latter gets just the 99, 101, and 103 sats. The dish is larger because the Ka sat (99 and 103) frequencies need that extra gain supplied by the bigger dish.
