New HR or eSATA drive

My hard drive on my 3 year old HR20-700 is starting to go. Should I buy a 1TB eSATA external drive or just buy a new HR23-700.

if you don't need the OTA tuners, you could go HR23, but you would only get 500GB if you go with the 1TB eSATA drive, you would have more space...

Assuming your HR20-700 is leased (most are), why go buy a new one? Call DirecTV and request a replacement. It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan. Otherwise it's ~$20 for shipping.
