The installer left an extra remote for one of my dvr's. On my other dvr, I have the remote on RF and I love it. Is it possible to have two remotes programmed for RF on one receiver? Once I programmed one, the second one quits working.

I think so. First you program one remote using the instructions that are available on you receiver. Then you must do the exact same thing to the next remote, because it is still on IR and will not operate the receiver.
Simply stated you must remember the instructions and do the same for the second remote. I just did it with a a regualr RC64 remote and then with an NFL remote. Both operate the receiver.

This is taken from one of Edmund's posts. He is the resident Remote Control expert on this forum...
With the receiver and first RF remote in RF mode, leave them alone and do the following on the second RF remote:
1. directv device
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 0 0 0 0 1
4. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
5. enter 9 6 1
6. press CH UP
7. enter the last 6 digits of the Receiver ID #(RID), found on a sticker in the access card compartment
8. press SELECT

I must be doing something wrong. I've followed the instructions and am not getting any response from the second remote. I tried just doing exactly the same thing for remote #2 and then followed the steps from Edmund's post and neither work. Do I have to be in the setup screen still? I've tried it in the setup part and out of it and still nothing. Is there something I'm missing?

all you have to do is enter the same code you entered on the 1st remote..

I go through the same exact steps and am entering the exact same code.
Is the 'problem' remote actually RF capable? Is there an FCC sticker on the backside of the remote? If no sticker then it is not an RF remote.

It didn't have a sticker.

dumb question but what model remotes do you have? some don't do rf...
Should have a "r" at end of model number on the front and a fcc sticker somewhere..

That's the problem, there's no "r" and there was no sticker.

What kind of DVR are you trying to control?
If it's an R15/R16, it can be set up to respond to BOTH IR and RF remotes at the same time! But if it's an HR2x/R22 it can only respond to IR *OR* RF but not both at the same time.

But if it's an HR2x/R22 it can only respond to IR *OR* RF but not both at the same time.I didn't know that any D* receivers would respond to both. I wish they would change this so you can do both with the HR's.
I can't use RF because my Harmony remote is IR. I would like the option so that if the HR isn't responding to my Harmony commands, I could pick up the D* remote and try it.
