I get new york locals on sat 119 transponder 20 and I get random pixelation and screen freeze. This just started about a month ago. It also happens on 119 transponder 21, which has occured since I got the system a year ago. I ended up hooking the 501 right at the dish directly off of the lnb and the problem still happens. Dish sent me a refurbed 501 and I still have the problem. I thought it might be the lnb, but it does it on 110 transpoder 26 also. Anyone have an idea?

Get another lnb try Dishpro if you don't already have one. I upgraded from a legacy quad to dishpro quad a couple of weeks ago and it improved my picture quality a bit. Where before I was seeing some artifacting in the background, I now don't see practically any at all now. The signal strength went up on all my sat screens also.
If you have the$1.99 a month extended warrenty with dish they will replace your lnb and receiver also for free if you have credit card auto pay. This is one of the most cost effecient policys you can get with pvrs and sat equipment. I've used it over the last 7 years and it has PAID OFF over the years.

Can I replace my 2 dual output lnb's with one Dishpro twin lnb? I only have one receiver for now. If I do that do I get rid of the switch and just run one cable from the dish to the receiver?

I dont know if Dish Network will upgrade your two dual lnbf's (under $1.99 month warranty) and switch to a dishpro lnbf with the switch built in but may want to replace it with exactly what you have but I am not sure on this. Perhaps the two individual lnbf's would still be dishpro if they had to replace them with two instead of one but the switch would also have to be dishpro if I am not mistaken and I do not know if they came out with that switch or not.

Also if there are no problems with the switch and/or lnbf's and they replace them I am not sure if they will charge a no problem found fee or not. You may want them to put some notes on your account that they will not charge you this in case that is not the problem.

When I said that Dish would replace YOUR LNB WITH dISHPRO I was wrong they will only replace the lnb with what you had before if it is broken or having problems. ( with the extended warrenty)

Dish Depot .com will work with you to do a deal so you might be able to trade in your old lnb for a dishpro twin or quad and give you a trade in value. I recently traded in an legacy quad to them for a dishpro quad, since I wanted to upgrade to dishpro. Mark is wonderful to work with and he does work deals for trade ins for new receivers ,etc.

As far as the extended warrenty with Dish , this is a Must have if you plan on having a pvr or if you're staying with Dish satellite. This really pays off when something unexpected happens. My 2 year old pulled the 508 off the top of the big screen tv when we were cleaning behind the tv. The 508 was trashed and the smart card too. Dish replaced it for free and no shipping. I can't recommend this one feature enough. It's the best $1.99 a month you'll ever spend.

Can you buy the extended warrenty after the fact?

I called dish and the tech wanted me to take the lnb to radio shack or somewhere to hook them to their equipement. Give me a break I'm not running all over town. I don't see what else it could be, I just have to convince dish. I'll call again tommorrow. I don't care if they send the same lnb, just as long as it works.

You can buy the extended warrenty any time but you would have to wait the 30 days before you made a claim so Dish wouldn't assume a pre existing problem and discount your claim. A lot of people do this with a flakey pvr and then claim it and get it replaced for free. You can buy it and claim the lnb now but it will cost you more . Call Dish and ask for yourself the csr can help you with the details and costs. Just remember on Credit Card Auto pay it is free shipping and handeling; about $14.00 without it.

Well I went ahead and order the dishpro twin lnb. I figure if this doesn't work at least I have the latest technology. We'll see what happens.
