I am a loooooong time subscriber to Dish w/superstations. Why after all these years are Boston Red Sox games suddenly being blacked out on Long Island, NY (Zip 11507)?

I think they are blacked out everywhere outside of boston..some kind of deal with nesn

WSBK and NESN have what is a very good arrangement for those that are supposed to receive the games. When they are carried on WSBK they are only shown in the Boston DMA, the DMA of WSBK, but now are also carried on NESN for the rest of New England. Actually this means almost every game is carried by NESN instead of the 90 or so before. This I believe is the first year WSBK has had the games since losing them several years ago, so blackouts would not have been an issue for them until now. If you were receiving the games it was not on WSBK. This all came about because the previous Boston FOX channel was not carried throughout New England (nor is WSBK) so none of those games could be seen in a large portion of the RED SOX viewing area. This new arrangement fixes that, and from reading the trade papers may become the model for other baseball carriage in other states.

Get Direc TV. Subscribe to MLB Extra Innings and you will see every Bo Sox Game. This is Simple. I am a very happy MLB Extra Innings and NFL Sunday Ticket Subscriber on Direc TV.

They have been blacked out all season and were never availab;e before that.

Bo Sox games are not blacked out on Direc TV. As a matter of fact Every Bo Sox game home and away that is on NESN has been carried and been on MLB Extra Innings. If the Bo Sox game isn't on NESN it's usually on the team that they are playing's Regional Sports Network Channel. Just Thursday The Game versus The Chicago White Sox was available both on NESN and WGN TV, The White Sox's Channel.

It is the games on WSBK that are being discussed. If DirecTV carried WSBK outside the Boston DMA they would be blacked out on DirecTV. Take a look a tthe other threads on thsi subject.
