Lost the Dish signals on 110 about 20 minutes ago in the Dallas area. 119 up and running. Neighbors all reporting the same. Anyone else experiencing the same or is it the spotbeam??

Many channels from the AT150 are also missing. I also got confirmation from DISH about the outage. She said their "working on it". I think it outage begin around 9:00am PST. It's the first time I have ever noticed an outage with DISH (2 yr. sub). I guess they were due.

Same thing here in the good old midwest. The locals have a picture, but no sound.
Here is the thread I posted earlier. If Im correct, I was the first person here to report about this weird outage.

does the outage mean aliens are attacking?

Not only 110 but 61.5 is out, which is like weird that both will be out at the same time. I did a check switch and now I don't get a guide on my 508, I guess guide info is on 110 :(
My 301 still has a guide but I'm sure it will be very outdated very soon.

Wheres Vicky, Cosmo, and Wanda?
(ADDENDUM: Now on topic again. Checked my locals, and AUDIO IS BACK! So are some of the channels on 110. This is turning out to be a fairly odd day! :D )

This thread has taken a fairly odd turn....
; )
Back on topic, has Dish announced, or do they usually announce, a reason for an outage like this? What could cause this? Did the satellite blow up, or did someone in a main Dish office somewhere unplug the wrong thing to plug in his radio?

I called Sky Angel and found out that a Dish Network distribution center was out effecting both 110 and 61.5.
Not sure about 148 since I don't have a dish pointed to 148.
It's back up now, from the others posts looks like the outage was about 2.5 hours.
A friend suggested sunspots but I don't think they effect dish.

177 - Pumping gas - is working... :)
110 Sat seems to be fine (from the quick glance at some of it's channels)
Never mind I just needed to do a switch check. It's back for me also. Sorry!

Ya - looks like - if 110 was broken earlier - it is fixed now...
(unless the problem was with Spot beam Tps?)
Wasn't checking earlier

Correct
I guess 110 is not "fully" fine yet after all - It's been reported (so i can confirm therefore) - that Dallas locals are in a "Soundless" state currently
More likely there are problems with other markets as well, as there is also a problem (with sound anyhow) at 119 sat Eastern Feeds (channels 241, 243, 245 for example)
Something is not right with Dish i guess..
Hopefully they can trouble-shoot soon and fix this problem..

As of this post Denver locals are still down - except KWGN, of course. Seattle is back. Also down: PBSyou and GolTV English.
Outages here also. Glad I've got cable backup.

E* claims that forest fire near Tucson uplink center took out the 110 bird, but then Cheyenne took 2 1/2 hours to re-uplink? Couldn't because signficant thunder storms where effecting uplink in Cheyenne?? Great. E* just finished moving programming on TP's 61.5 causing receiver lock up's left and right.

They cannot uplink all of 110 with just one uplink center. It takes 2 to get all the locals up. Dish has 29 transponders on 110. This gives them 29 uplink frequencies. They uplink from 2 different sites (the satellite has an antenna pointed at each site, like spot beam in reverse). This give them 29x2 uplinks or 58 frequencies. They use 24/58 in national programming and leaves them the rest for the spot beams (they could do up to 34).
They probably split the national uplinks between the two centers, so if one center goes out they would lose 12 national transponders or 80-120 channels and half the spot beam markets.
Now since 110 is not full they could probably move a lot to the other uplink center, but you have to remember locals come in from around the country. I do not know if they duplicate every market to both centers.

The AZ uplink center is in Gilbert, a Phoenix suburb. Not quite sure how it's supposed to be affected by a forest fire (http://www.azstarnet.com/wildfire/) almost 100 miles away.
