View Full Version : (Reception) What's Reasonable?

Our signal strength covers a pretty large range. From 18 to 55 depending on channel / transponder. Channels such as Fox Sports North, TBS, and several others generally come in on the low end. Locals at the high end and others generally run somewhere in the middle 30-38.
On a clear day fine. However on overcast / misty type days the low end reception is often lost and is a pain in the butt. Should one expect to get at least a decent signal in the 40 plus range on all channels.
Have the newer eastern arc set up with dish 1000.4 or whatever.

Should be a lot better than that. How long has it been installed?
I need a major weather event before I lose signal where I am.

Overcast/Mist should not be a factor. I have to have a heavy storm cell nearing Severe limits directly in the dish-to-sat path to lose signal.

I have always had the problem but just figured out tonite that it is the HD channel that shows no signal. The corresponding SD channel comes in but if I switch to the HD channel then no signal. Being as how I have things set up to go directly to the HD channel I was regularly getting a no signal during and or even after a rainshower.
For example tonite we had a good rain. No problem with SD channels or HD locals but most all other HD channels (MSNBC< CNN< FSN< TBS etc.) I get no signal.

I should clarify that during the good rain shower I could not get much of anything. But I can accept that if it is raining pretty good. But not during light rain and or after the rain shower.
