View Full Version : Type of HD Dish used
If I go with Dish Network what type of dish will they use? I will have regular channels, HD channels, local Hd channels, and DVR on 1 tv. I have 2 standard Tvs hooked up, 2 HD tVs one with DVR. I live in Illinois.
Thanks,

Assuming you have Baltimore -
You'll need 119/110 on a standard DIsh 500 (probably using a DishPro Plus LNB) and a Wing dish for 61.5 (Dishpro Single or dual).

Actually, I live in Frederick.
I can't use a Dish 1000.2 or 1000.4?
Sorry for the stupid questions.
Thanks

I just had the same upgrade as you talk about and I live near Annapolis. I used to have a Superdish pointed at 110 and 119. Since I was upgrading for HD locals, my installer thought it was silly to add another dish so he pulled down and trashed my Superdish (not being used by Dish anymore anyway) and set me up with a 1000.4 pointed at the Eastern Arc to get pretty much everything from the 61.5 orbital position which is where the Baltimore DMA locals come from. BTW, they don't provide all locals in HD - although the only one I'm ticked off about is PBS. ABC (channel 2), NBC (11), CBS (13), and Fox (45) are in HD. I have lots of mature trees in the Eastern Arc path, but because the elevation is so much higher (around 44 degrees) I was able to "see" over the trees (installer said I should be good for at least 3-4 years).

Frederick is in the Washington D.C. DMA, your locals will be on 61.5.
Why can't you use a 1000.4 dish?

It was a question. So, it's your opinion that I could use a 1000.4?
Thanks
You'll likely get a Dish 1000.4.
You must use HD receivers across the board. MPEG2 SD locals appear to be uniquely available on 110W so any SD receivers would require two dish setup.

Thank you. I believe that answered my question.
