Just signed up for E* not too long ago and got a Dish 500 I still have an D* 18x24 dish, would that give me a better signal than the E* 20' dish. Just wondering since it is a bigger dish.

I am not sure on signal, but a larger dish can help prevent rain-fade.

awax,
I just changed from an 18x24 dish (was an old Gilat set-up) down to the dish 500.
My signal strength actually went up by an average of 5% !
You experiance may vary ... :-)

Yes 24 is better then 18 anytime (expecially at Dishnetwork)
You will see signal strength go up considerably after 24 upgrade..
Which will DEFINATLY help during heavy rains (aka "Rain-Fade") :)

Some also take PrimeStar dishes and swap the lnbf to get a better picture quality. The bad news is that it is only a single slot dish but it could be rigged up to receive more than one location. This is like the StarBand dish where they used the same dish to receive/transmit internet as they did to receive tv programming from Dish Network.
