View Full Version : HR23 recording repeats even though it's set to new episodes only....

This seems to be happening with all my shows that I have set to record the entire series.

I have made sure to change the settings to only record first runs but it's recording every episode of all the series I have it set to.

Any fixes for this issue?

Hmmmm. That's strange. This happens to me sometimes with shows that don't have alot of information in the description like ORIGINAL AIR DATE but not all the shows in my "Season Pass". Not sure what the problem could be. Sorry.

Can you give us an example of some of the shows that are recording? Also, when you look at the upcoming episodes for these shows, what is it displaying for the number of First Run episodes and Total Episodes for these shows (i.e. 4 First Run / 10 Total)?

As hbkbiggestfan pointed out, there are some reasons why repeat episodes of a show might record when First Run has been set as a criteria.

Most shows that have more than one showing per day will record all showings unless you set up a recurring manual recording.

I want to add that the main reason appears to be poor guide data that doesnt differentiate well between 1st run and repeats/encore presetations, and that is typically the stations fault...

South Park is terrible about this. In the description it never says repeat so every flipping episode records.

And the Daily Show/Colbert Report.

I think I need to set up manual recordings then because the shows i'm trying to record all have multiple showings per day.

This all depends on the guide data. There are a view shows that I found that I had to go to manual record because of this reason. Its not many but it does happen. You can do a search for the show and it will list in the info the different runs. Also, if its the first time you are setting this to record it might get this error the first time and then go away on the next episodes.

Seems to happen on the 101 channel quite a bit. Not a big deal there. And it happens on all my HRs. If I see a program listed twice with the same program description I just delete one. Seems to happen occasionally on all but my local stations.

That will work for you, go to "manage recordings" and select manual, from there it's just like setting up a VCR. Yo can select start time, duration, and channel plus which days you want it to record.

I get it on the TLC Channel the most often.
