Last Summer, USA Network launched "Monk" to absolutely no fanfare except their own promos. The show, a crime series about an obsessive/compulsive detective, was a bonafide sleeper hit and it's star, Tony Shaloub, won a well deserved Golden Globe award. ABC showed reruns of the program, which gave the show more exposure to the TV watching public.

Last evening, the series started it's second season. Yesterday I read several articles about the return of the show in major newspapers from New York, Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc. Those who make their living within the TV industry have definately taken notice of the show.

My wife and I love the show. We have not yet seen the season opener. I recorded last evening's episode via TIVO and we will watch it tonight and, yes, I will FF through the commercials.

For those who have not seen the program, USA reruns each episode on other evening's besides Friday so you can still see this season's first show. Last night's episode will be shown again tonight at 10PM ET and on Sunday at noon ET. I would be very interested in reading the opinions of those who have seen the program both last season and last evening.

I've seen them all and I love the show. Last night's episode was exceptional even for such a great show as this one. You're in for a treat when you watch it.

I had to leave for a meeting halfway intoth show and didn't record the rest. The show is a refreshing look at a not quite so perfect detective who is obsessed with perfection and gifted with deductive insights to equal Sherlock Holmes. I later watched the 2-hour movie whcih I believe was the pilot for the series. I highly recommend it!!

Shaloub is a real genius (not just in Monk). Monk is one of those really great characters to watch (and must be great for Shaloub to Play)

Thanks Terry. You were sure right. We watched the episode tonight and really loved it.

Thanks, Rusty. That's funny. That's the second time today I've gotten a compliment on my avatar and I don't even like it. Like I said before (on the gold members' board), it's the Falcons' new updated logo and I'm only using it as my avatar to get myself used to it. lol

To get back on topic, I think this season of Monk is going to be a good one. The first episode was great and I've heard some interesting things about upcoming episodes. But I won't spoil it for you.

Glad to hear you liked the premier as much as I did.

The pilot episode, where Monk put the tissues on every rung of the ladder going down into the sewer and the look on Monk's face when the little kid sneezed are ABSOLUTE classics.

I read that Monk got an increased budget this season and is now filmed in LA rather than Canada. So we should see some good guests this season. Great that the principal characters are all back.
