Will older non dishpro receivers work with a dual dishpro lnb?
Im thinking of getting a new dual lnb and getting rid of the switches.
I use one 508 and one 3900,will the dishpro dual lnb work with the 3900?
Thanks

No. DishPro LNB's and switches will only work with DishPro receivers, the DP301, 508 and 721.

I understand a new switch is coming that will service legacy and DishPro receivers, but I haven't seen it yet.

They should build in a switch in all the new dishpro twins that will work with legacy and dishpro receivers both.

The wide LNB housing that contains 2 LNBs and built-in switch is called a Twin, available in legacy and DishPro versions. To use the 3900 with the DP Twin you will need to buy a DishPro adapter for it.

Your existing legacy LNBs and switches can be used with legacy and/or DP receivers. I'm not sure if there is a benefit to swapping those out at this point.

The new DPP44 switch can reportedly be connected directly to legacy and DP receivers. Maybe that's also true for the DPP Twin?

there will be a dishpro legacy adapter that will allow you to attach any legacy receiver to the dishpro system.

There is already a switch on the market which will allow you to hook up the older receivers to a Dishpro LNB. Unfortunatley, the cost of this switch is rather high. I think it's something like $70. I almost went this route when I purchased a 2700 off of ebay and was going to use it with my DP301 system. I wound up selling the 2700 back on ebay to get my money back, and bought a new DP 301 on ebay for something like $85 including shipping. If you have a DP system it may be more cost effective to just buy a new 301 rather than buying the switch. What is awsemone about the DP system is that you can piggyback together the DP 34 switches to have up to 12 receivers on one dish.

Thats pretty rediculous to have to spend just as much or more on an adapter than what the receiver itself costs new or used.

Since I have a 6000 it makes more sense for me to get the adapter. The 6000 is going to the bedroom once the 921 finally gets here.

Are you really going to be able to sleep with the 6000's 24/7 fan in the same room? :nono:

Shouldn't be a problem since I don't use the tv too often, I'll just have the 6000 unplugged most of the time.

I unplugged the fan 2 years ago and haven't had any trouble at all with heat.

My 6000 is on the top of my open component rack.

Yes, I forgot to mention the 6000. That receiver is one of the exceptions and perhaps one of the main reasons they decided on making the expensive adapter.
