Hello I have been tasked by my HOA to look into alternatives to our exisiting sole option of Comcast for pay TV. The Community is a 210-unit condo complex that consists of two 6-story buildings. Each building has a wiring closet on every other floor that serves two floors of the building with dual-coax runs to each unit.
We do not want to enter into an exclusive contract, instead giving the members of our community the choice between cable and satellite.
What options will be available for us??

Pretty much to install a MFH2 system.
It won't be cheap but people will be able to make a choice and will have access to all D* services.
The issue with a system that large it that with non exclusivity it will be harder for the sysop to recoup the investment.
You can always get in touch with PDI ( major sysop, though not sure if they cover CA) at least to get some pointers

This is very true... Depending on how much work would be needed, ergo coring the floors, running RG 11, a dish in each building, etc. It could kind of pricey without some kind of guaranteed return on investment.:D
I will say that people like having a choice. Many are going with cable modem only and supplementing their entertainment with DTV. Plus DTV has the better HD anyway... Unless U Verse is available in that area

You could enter into an exclusive contract with the MDU provider and lengthen it out a ways to make the install cheaper. This doesn't mean that everyone has to use DTV, just that if they do they must go through the MDU provider you have a contract with. They can slowly recoup their money as they sign up customers.
