View Full Version : For Dish/DirecTV Dealers Only
Hi Guys,
As some of you are aware, I was a rather large dealer a few years ago and have made it known that I am happy to be out of the satellite business, although it remains a great hobby for me :)
A question for those of you who are active dealers and actually sell a few systems or more per week.
With all of the recent changes in the satellite business within the last year or so, are you able to make a profit and do you at least somewhat enjoy the business ?
Just curious
Last year we made a killing, this year I am working a part time job to survive.

I used to make good money when I started and then the profits went down each and every year. It went from being enjoyable to a pain at times. It is different than what it was when I first begun. I am hoping with the local markets in my area to be added that it will help dramatically as I predict it will but there will probably be a lot more competition such as lowballers and fly by nights coming in so that will not help. That is one thing that made business rough, to compete with supercheap offers in which attracts bad customers at times that could afford to pay for the cheap system more than they could the programming.

i absolutely refused to sign that one sided tripe of a contract with E* this time around....
two years ago, I decided NOT to offer "free" anything-as you can expect, I saw a drop off of about 95% in my business and my primary work these days is working in security at my local airport...
i DO do a couple of HT jobs per month and everything is on a referral basis-as far as the sat equipment goes, the customer is responsible for providing that....
per job, i make more money than i did as a sat dealer and none of it gets charged back... :D
i deal with less stress on a daily basis
and i found out that life went on away from the sat biz :welcome:
