New Customer/New Install. Installer is here with HR21. Concerned about recording space, since HR21 has 320 GB versus 500 GB for HR22/23.

Any suggestions on how to get the HR22/23 (or, quite frankly, I think I'd be fine with the HR21 if they give me the same recording capacity as the HR22/23!)

Thanks,

I think the 320GB unit will give you about 40 hours of HD recording, whereas the 500 will get you about 100 hours. To get an HR22/23 you'll need to get one online. You can also get an external eSATA enclosure and put whatever size HD you want and use that.

I don't want to incur the costs of an enclosure+drives :D especially when DTV has DVR's that provide the 100 hours. Well, wish me luck as I call DTV :|

Bottom line is really cant choose which DVR you get, unless you can work out a deal for you to go pick up a leased HR23 somewhere in the retail chain.

D* is providing you with the equipment they promised. You're getting a HD DVR.
Yes it's not the one you want, if you really want a specific model buy it at Costco or get eSata.

Actually they mentioned I'd be able to record 100 hrs HD, and I did say (to them and in the thread) that I'm model agnostic :)

Good news is they said they will send me a 100 hr HDDVR, so we'll know in a few days!

I received the HR23. Thanks D*!!! I wish I could get back to the supervisor I spoke with to thank them; I know their name, but not sure how to get back to them. . .
