Problem with R10

I've got an R10 Tivo that's behaving very oddly. Menus and interfaces look fine, but both live and recorded tv looks fine for only the left 2/3rd of the screen. On the right 1/3, the picture breaks up into something I find a bit hard to describe: wavy lines, I guess, might be a way to put it - of course, the picture is completely unrecognizable on that side of the screen.

My first thought is that it's probably a hard drive problem, but I really don't know. Any thoughts?

Quick update: a restart solved the problem. I was really surprised by that as it just looked like too serious a problem to solve so simply. I'd still be interested, though, to hear anyone's ideas as to what might have caused it and, of course, whether you think it likely to recur.
