I just got my fourth AM-21 to go on my HD receiver (no recorder) after the new download so I could get the local side channels. I installed it just as I did the three previous ones but as soon as I connected the power cord to it, the little blue power light came on and would not go off with the remote. It stays on all the time. The only way I could get it off is by unplugging the power cord. It seems to work fine, but when I turn off everything (TV and Receiver) with the remote, the blue power light on the AM21 stays on. On all of my other sets, the off on the remote turns off the TV, the receiver and the AM21.

Any suggestions? Could it have anything to do with the fact that the power inserter for the coaxial is located within a few feet of this unit? Will it likely do any harm? If it does do some harm, would it be covered by the service plan, which I have and which might mean that someone who knows something more than I might come and fix it?

Thanks for any comments.

When you "turn off" the receiver, its still on, downloading guide data, watching for scheduled shows. The video output is switched off, as are the receivers power and mode lights, but its still on. The AM21 is also always on. If you actually want to shut off the receiver (which would require a reboot every time you wanted to use it), plug the AM21 and receiver into a power strip, and switch it off. Thats the only way I know of to do it.

Did you connect the AM21 to a H21-100 by any chance? I ask since I moved a AM21 from a H21-200 to an H21-100 and see the same problem you're posted. Don't think it causes any problems with it on, just a bug.

Yes, I did. I was hoping it was just a bug. Do you think it needs to be reported or can I assume enough people have done so?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't really care about turning the insides off, I just wanted to turn off the light so my wife won't go crazy trying to do so. It would appear (from the next answer) that this is just a bug when an AM21 is connected to an H21. If so, I can certainly live with it.

Thanks for the response.

You can report it if you want, can't hurt. As for the light, get some black electrical tape and just cover the LED.
