I must be going senile. Has anyone ever seen a prompt that warns of an upcoming recording event like this before ?

No I've never seen one like that on that type of screen. Just the green screen that shows both timers that are going to execute and which one you want on the main tuner.

My version is still at 1.12, that's the first thing I checked. I got very excited thinking maybe 1.13 was finally here. But no joy.
The screen happened right after / during a caller ID pop-up.
Maybe it does that anytime the caller id pop-up is still on the screen ?
Can anyone confirm that?

Reminds me of the scrolling reminder that the dishplayers have.
That's what shows up when you hit the Info button when the flashing clock appears. Of course, if you've disabled the flashing clock, you wouldn't know to press the info button to get to this prompt!
I have my flashing clock disabled and I have seen this screen for at least several months now. It is not very often but seems to occur when 1 tuner is already recording and I go to change channels within the 5 minute window of the begninning of another recording.
Really seems like a useless message since the 2nd timer always fires and records, but I guess it IS nice to be informed that the channel you just tuned to will suddenly change when the 2nd timer fires.

Hey, that's pretty cool! If I read these posts properly, when the timer clock starts flashing, all I have to do is press info, and it will tell me what the timer is that is about to fire. If you have a number of timers programmed, sometimes its hard to remember. I wonder if there are other handy little features like this we just don't know about yet?

Oh ... ok that makes sense. I did disable Mr Blinky. It is very possible that I hit the info button too., since I was reacting to the caller ID and trying to pause at the same time.
thanks !
After reading this thread I set a timer on my 508 and when the clock started flashing I hit info. I have done this before and always got the choice of stopping the timer, cancel, etc. But I am quite sure I never got the info of what the timer was for, but I do now! Before everything was on one line - cancel, stop, etc. , but now on several lines showing what the timer is for. It's not like I have never used this feature, I use it often. Can anyone confirm getting the timer info is new?
I have also seen this screen, I think it is just as someone said, it only happens if you try to change the channel within 5 minutes of a scheduled recording, nice to let you know atleast before it smacks you out of watching something live

You know,
They really have done a good job with this interface. It may not be quite feature complete .. yet (hoping for 113 enhancements), but it is quite nice !
This has been there all along. I guess its a nice feature, but poorly implemented, graphic-wise. See-through dialog graphics are confusing when other graphics with writing appear beneath them...one more indication of the ergonomically-challenged vision of this beast.
But there is no consistency. On one hand, if you are in PIP mode and pause, the pause bar appears and the PIP window then ever-so-cleverly slides up above it, out of the way, since they normally time-share the same screen real estate. Very cool, very well done. On the other hand, if you disable the blinky clock, and then set "reminder" timers, they probably fire just fine, but as a user you'd never know, because the only indication (Mr. Blinky) has been disabled! D'oh!

Well what you suggest happen? The user has asked for two conflicting actions to occur! Personally, this is the way I want it to function. Follow the master settings first. I would really hate to have a vcr recording messed up by an alert because someone else in my family set a reminder.
