DishPVR [and another receivers] positioning?

I know the PVR units are hard drives; as such, is it okay to store it on its side? Many computers nowadays get stored on their side or on their bottom; we are putting it in a room where there's not much room for it sitting horizontal. It's currently on its side and seems to be working, but I don't know if the PVR HDs are more unstable than a PC, or what.

I have seen it posted on here before where people had put hard drives on their sides even for the pvr's if I am not mistaken. They just cannot be moved around while they are on.

IMHO
You should be ok as long as the unit :
1. is standing plumb - you do want it flat in one plane or the other
2. has good air flow - you don't want it over-heating
3. is stable. - you don't want it moving around
