View Full Version : Using HR21-200 with Different Dishes?
I have a HR21-200 receiver at my home with the Slimline Dish. I will using this receiver this Fall for a football tailgate setup with an Old 3 LNB dish. I know I want be able to get all my Channels with the old Dish but I was looking at the Setup of the HR21-200 and I have a Question. In the setup there is a Place to tell the Receiver the type of Dish I have and where there is a Multiswitch or SWM,will I have to change these setting back and forth on the receiver each time I move it?
Thanks

Yes, in the System Setup (Menu>Parental,Fav's&Setup) you can go into Satellite (sometimes labeled Sat&Ant) and redo your satellite setup at any time. Other than being time consuming, it won't hurt your receiver.
Also be aware that you won't get any HD feeds with the old dish.
I hate not being able to get my HD feeds. Last year we tried to use the SlimeLine Dish for Tailgating and it just seemed too hard to get the Satellites on a Portable Tripod setup. With the Old 3 LNB it a "snap" to get the Satellites.

If you get a slimline3 LNB from solidsignal.com and replace that old 3LNB head with the new one it will pick up all the HD channels.
Just remember to set the receiver to slimline 3.:)

Thanks, I didn't know I could do that. So all I do get the SlimeLine 3 LNB and just replace the old 3 LNB on the Dish I am using to Tailgate with the new "SlimeLine" one?
The Slimline 3 LNB on a Phase III dish can be as difficult (or more) to align as an actual slimline dish. Some have success with it while others do not. Signal levels will typically be somewhat lower (thus more susceptible to rain fade). I've tried both a 5-LNB and a 3-LNB (99/101/103) LNB assembly on a Phase III dish, and it was more hassle than it was worth, in my opinion. While I was able to get it to work (marginally), I can set up and align a slimline faster.
