First, sorry if this is in the wrong place, its not specific to a receiver, but it is HD related...

I am trying to figure if the wiring scheme I want to use will actually work. What it comes down to is:

I have a SD TV in my basement and an HD TV in my bedroom. My Sat cable comes in the basement, and I have a Coax run from the basement to the bedroom.

My first question is, if I go with an "HD Only" plan, will any receiver be able to "down convert" the HD to SD via the second TV option? (For the basement TV)

If it can, can I run the signal from the satellite to the upstairs TV, and the home distribution output from the receiver to the basement TV on the same coax cable? (I hope that made sense...)

Thanks!

AJ

Hi...

A few things that might help you...

Each receiver will require a run of coax to it, from the satellite dish (or switch)... no splitters will work.

If, as it sounds, you only want to use one receiver at the main tv and use a backfeed from the distribution, you can do that.

Only the HD receivers from Dish will process the HD channels, though they will provide downconverted SD output as well as the SD-output for the coax distribution.

For your situation, sounds like you'd want a ViP622 at minimum... but probably best to get a 722K if you can (so you can have OTA at both locations if you receive any OTA where you are).

You can no longer order the TurboHD, "HD Only" plan. It is only available to those who had it before August 1.
