View Full Version : Free HD-DVR
Just called to see how bad they were going to stick me to up grade the R15-500 in the bedroom to a hd-dvr. Expecting to get $99 deal which I planned on accepting, to my surprise the csr said I qualified for a FREE one. WOOHOO  Now we have all our TV's equipped with hd-dvr's. :D
The only problem is it has to be installed by them, no self install. Figured I'd just met the guy at the door with a cold beverage and see how bad he really wants to do it himself or if he wants to get on his way to the next stop. lol

Cool, but you do realize that will start a new 2 year commitment right?
Just checking...

Well, people dont like that but if your not planning on leaving DIRECTV why should it matter.
Didn't plan on leaving any time soon.
Although I'm on the phone again with them. Looked at my account and they charged me full price plus shipping.:mad::mad:

Should get a credit for the same amount when its activated.

Wrong.
Should have been the discounted price to begin with.
OP needs to contact D* and get this resolved before accepting the new hardware. (Which it sounds like he is doing right now.)
I wish D* would get their sh*t together.
Now to honor the original deal, they said they credit back $20 for shipping and $100 on the dvr then give me -$10 a month for free hd-access, which I can live with.
Checked my account again and I only see the $20 credit. Off to the phone again and straight to retention this time. :nono2:
SOB....Finally got it straightened out.
Only took threatening to cancel service to get them to honor their notes in the system.
I've never had this kind of problems dealing with them before. I hope its a loooong time before I have to call them again.
It took less then an hour to turn that smiley face you posted :D, into a frown  on your face. I can't understand how the CSR's can tell you its free and then bill you full price. They were getting some good press from you and it turned into a negative for them. How sad :crying_sa

Why would they charge $20.00 for shipping when they were sending a tech to install it?
Don't the techs usually bring the receiver?

They charge the $20 for shipping the receiver to the installer. Totally a BS charge but been that way for years.
Glad you got it worked out.
Too bad they made you jump through hoops.
My experience with the billing dept the past two years has been a 'D'.
Luckily for D*, the content they have is a B+.
