I just received a Sony BDP-S560 player. As I'm looking at the remote, I'm trying to find the button that opens and closes the tray. Reading the owners manual I realize there is no such animal. Are they kidding? Back it goes

Why do you need to close the tray with the remote? The only time I open the tray is to insert or remove a disc. In both cases, I am standing at the machine to do it. Is that really a deal breaker?

i agree with Wally on this one. Starting with my first CD player..a Sony CDP-101 to present Blu-Ray/DVD/CD toys that I have, I don't think I've every availed myself of the ability to use the remote to open or close the tray.

Every CD, DVD player I have ever had, had a remote button to open and close the tray. My player is mounted at almost ground level and it is much easier to drop in a disk than to fumble around trying to find the button on the player that opens and closes the tray. I am also handicapped. Even their cheaper 360 model has that remote button. If I could mount the player higher I wouldn't mind.

I'm with the OP on this. I use both the Open button on my remote and the one on my Blu-ray player - a Panasonic DMP-BD605.

If you are a member of Sam's club or Costco, I strongly recommend the Panasonic DMP-BD605. It's one of the best players on the market and is the same as the Panasonic DMP-BD60.

Same here....this would be the first I've ever heard of one omitting that button.

The new Samsung Bluray has Netflix and wireless wifi built in, we really like it. Full 7.1 analog out to boot. Nice unit.

...but there have been plenty of reports of problems with Samsung Blu ray units in general, including firmware-related loading and disk drawer problems.

Google Samsung Blu Ray problems and it will show the details...

Having read various threads on them...I'd stay away from their players personally. YMMV.

Funny that you mention that -- I had a Samsung BD-1400 arrive dead in the box last Christmas. It went back and I bought a Sony. Figuring lightening wouldn't strike twice I bought this new top model and it's been great. Surely Samsung understands that they have to get quality up and keep it there to be players in this market.

Thanks.
