6000 and OTA

Hi,

I am looking into buying a Dish 6000 HD receiver. I was wondering if I also buy the 8VSB module to view OTA HD stations, can I still use the receiver to watch OTA HD channels if I cancel the Dish service after the one year term?

Or do I have to maintain minimal service in order to use the 6000 as a HD receiver to watch OTA HD channels.

Welcome to the forum.

You can still use the 6000 to watch OTA if you cancel Dish service, but there is a catch. The 6000 still needs to be connected to the satellite dish and pointing towards a Dish satellite. I think the 6000 will sit there trying to "acquire" satellite signal and will keep you from using it OTA if it can't see the satellite.

You will get to see all the shopping channels even without dish subscription. Even cancelling the subscription does not get rid of the barker channels.
