Go to the Programming Guide on directv.com and put in July 1, 2003. Here you will see the new HD channels in the 100's. They are in with the PPV channels.

They actually are going to be in the single # range, I think ch 71-85 range. I have a friend a DTV.

If that is the case, then they will be on the channels I saw them on about 3am for about 15 minutes and then they disappeared. It will be ESPN-HD on 73, Discovery HD on 76, and HDNet Movies on 81. Can't wait! Hopefully they won't have to compress the image too much to save bandwidth. If so, the image will not be as clear as it is OTA.

HD Package is NOW available. I called DirecTV at 5:00am CDT and believe it or not, the CS Rep stated he could help me with the new HD Package. 5 minutes later, they were UP and in my programming guide. ESPN HD is what I've been waiting for. Enjoy HD programming ...

Yes, it is starting to appear that me and you may have ben wrong in that E* would start out by placing HD pak at 110 and latter moving them to 105, it now appears that E* is waiting on a SES American satellite to be moved to 105. It now appears to me that "ATHD" will not happen until mid August or early September with the SuperDish and start out at 105.
I'm at work this morning, but I wanted to see if I could add the HD package from Directv via their website. I logged on, saw the package as an option, and added it to my subscription. I went to the program guide a few minutes later and the new channels were appearing. I can't WAIT to get home to check them out.
I was getting a little antsy since we couldn't add the package before today, but I have to tip my hat to Directv for having the option on their website today.

It appears that Dish finds adding more markets (putting them on 110 CONUS) is more important than HDTV. They had room for HDTV (and still have some), but since 121 launch has been delayed they seem to think LIL is more important (and probably is as far as $$ to the bottom line is).

Yes, I agree, new local markets add more new subs then any new channel that D* or E* could add. From what I have read from posts by dealers in the two DBS forums recently makes me think E* will have a satellite moved into the 105 slot in the near future for a possible "ATHD", SuperDish and 811 launch in August or September, and the PVR 921 in time for the Christmas selling season, only time will tell
