This is an expansion of something I wrote on an earlier thread.
In my former home market of Roanoke/Lynchburg, VA, DirecTV launched locals including "WBVA/WB5", a mostly (yes, I said mostly) cable channel serving as the market's WB Network affiliate. It's operated by the local Fox affiliate (WJPR/WFXR Fox 21/27) and is a full-time locally-managed channel. The only over-air exposure for it is as a subchannel on WJPR-DT 20.
I'm currently in Toledo, OH, which doesn't look like it'll get D* local channels for some time. In this market, there's also a "WB5", operated by the major local cable provider (Buckeye CableSystem). It is also a 24/7 full-time broadcast style channel, and as far as I know, this WB Network affiliate doesn't even transmit as a subchannel on any broadcast DTV transmitter.
Which brings me to my question - for which other markets does DirecTV bring in non-full power analog local network affiliates?
To qualify on my list, the station can be either an LPTVer, cable-only or mostly cable distributed by a digital subchannel.
To date, I can only list two that are already on the D* birds:
* "WBVA/WB5" (WB, Roanoke/Lynchburg, VA, subchannel 2 of WJPR-DT 20 Lynchburg, VA)
* WBCQ-CA 25 Cincinnati (UPN)
Other possibles for the future would include:
* "WTWB/WB5" (WB, Toledo, OH, cable only)
* "CYB.wb" (WB, Tri-Cities, TN/VA - Bristol/Kingsport/Johnson City - subchannel of one of the local network affiliates there)
Any others?
Mike
