I currently have two 622s (one owned) and a 501. We almost never use anything but one of the 622s, which is hooked into a distribution network for the rest of the house. I keep the 501 just because it has DHP attached and the newer version would cost $1 more a month than just keeping the 501. The other 622 is in the LR, on a old 32" CRT, which also gets the TV2 signal from the main box.

We are putting together a home gym with a new 37" LCD and we'd like to get HD on it. I will probably run 50 ft component cables from the 622 in the next room, but that won't cover the case of separate shows on the two sets when I want to watch some sports and she wants to work out or maybe watch a movie.

I'm thinking of giving up the 501 and the leased 622 in exchange for two 612s.

1) Can I do this without purchasing one of them? I would actually be reducing the "number of TVs" by one (from 5 to 4), or do they count a 612 as "two TVs" since it has two tuners?

2) I'm thinking I am going to need a DPP+ switch since I would be feeding 6 tuners. Is this right? I don't know exactly what I have now, but I think it is some sort of 34 combined with a SW21 for the 501. I have a dish 500 for 110 and 119, along with another dish pointed at 61.5. Should I ask to be converted to Eastern Arc? I have a much clearer LOS to that part of the sky. There is a tree that didn't used to be as tall to the SW now.

3) How would this affect my monthly bill? I don't think it counts as an upgrade under Dishin' it Up, or does it? I don't want to spoil my chances of getting a 922 when they come out.

4) I already have EHDs for extra capacity. I think I will be able to use them on the 612s too. Is that correct?

1) since only 3 of the tuners are leased, you could get the 501 exchanged for a 612 or another 622, possibly for free. If not, for about $100 - $150 under DIU

2) Any new switching equipment needed would be included in a DIU upgrade.

3) monthly bill would go up $7.98 if you just replace the 501 with a 612, or a 622 if you kept the 622 connected to a phone line or network connection. Unless you purchase the new receiver, it would be your DIU for the year. Either way, monthly change in cost is the same.

4) Yes, the EHD's for the 622's will work with 612's as well as 722's and 722k's

Since you own one 622, you currently have 3 leased outputs (Dish often incorrectly calls these tuners, but they really count outputs/TV connnections): 2 on the leased 622 and 1 on the 508. You could replace either receiver with 2 612s and still be within the max of 4 leased outputs.
