I am having on again and off again problems with my Dish Network receiver for about a month now and I am not really getting any help from Dish to pin point my problem. I have a model 3800 receiver that on occasion (about 2-3 times a week) will suddenly lose it's signal on the local channels (110 I believe) I check signal strength for the 110 feed and I get zero signal. The only way to fix this is turn off the receiver a few times and it will reset itself. I do a check switch test and it seems to be fine most of the time. Any ideas what this could be?

Are you losing your signal on all 110 transponders, or just the spotbeam transponders? Also do you have a dish500 with a twin lnbf in which has a built in switch or is it two seperate lnbf's attached to an sw-21 switch?

I believe its a twin Inbf with the built in switch.
First of all Crabby what is your software all 3800's should display 3900 upgraded in the system information screen. If yours still shows as a 3800 you need a software upgrade. Sys info button on remote or menu 6,1,3 will get you there.
Second what is the result of running a switch test? Menu 6,1,1 and choose switch test. When you loose the signal go to menu 6,1,1 the highlighted satellite and transponder are the one that signal is coming from.

Thats why I had asked why he had a twin lnbf because I was thinking he should have had 3900 OpenTV software but perhaps it had been disconnected when that upgrade came through.

It's the 3900 upgrade. Here's the kicker..This problem always happens on early Sunday or Monday mornings. It will stay that way until I fix it. It will tell me my signal has been lost at the 110 location.

I seem to lose the signal on the transponder. For some reason, the transponder will switch down to a low number (4-10) and I will lose the signal on the 110 location. I will have to go in and manually switch the number to a higher number (22-26) to get the signal again. Any ideas guys? :(

I have a model 3800 and I've had some problems that were similar but it seems everything was due to a bad cable. My cable had a little cut in it and it seemed that some channels/transponders were more sensitive that others to cutting out. I replaced the cable and the problem hasn't come back.
