screen savers removed from 721 ??

After leaving my PVR721 on pause for quite a while (30-45 min) the other day I came back only to my dismay, to find that the screen saver that normally appears had not activated.

I probably ruined my TV in the process. But I contacted Dish Support and they gave me a crappy short and sweet reply. "The screen savers have been removed from the 721. Thee are no plans, at this time, to reinstall them at any point in the future."

What's going on here ? Anyone have any idea ?

It seems that since April, my 721 has been giving me nothing but trouble and every software update since then has made the system worse. Tech support has been absolutely no help whatsoever.

If your using standard CRT then it will take a lot longer than that. I install pro CCTV systems and it takes a couple of weeks before you notice screen burn, after that your screwed. If your using plasma tnen all bets are off.

According to Scott's contacts, Dish SWEARS they didn't touch anything in the last upgrade so they must still be there. Not poking at you Scott (I always appreciate your insight), but I still think your contacts are full of crap at times and that they deliberitely lie to you when they deem it to their advantage to USE you. This is a good example. We know it, we can see it, yet they deny it.

So whats so hard to program in a Screen Saver anyways? Even if it was a Dish logo, better then nothing! You'd think with most of todays Tv's being CRT's and Plasma's that SS would be a given on a PVR of any type!

Someone posted a while back, that they are there, but that they have beem commented out. If so, even simpler to reactivate them, but the question is, then why haven't they?

There have been some problems reported by 721 owners concerning the screensavers. As Randy said, they left the code in but deactivated the "feature". Screensavers are on the "fix list" but no timeframe estimate as to when they will be back.

For what its worth, the screen saver was reactivated in the last Beta code I got from Dish. It will be back :D

Is that an update to the 1.13 beta you have been working with, or have you moved on up to 1.14?

I wonder why the original Dish logo screen saver was not kept removing the other ones instead of removing them all?
