Can some one tell me what the dvr hd pacage is, what is dvr service and why do I need it .I just upgraded to HDchoice xtra. The CS said it would be cheaper too get the DVR pacage but I do not see the savings I own both my HD receivers out right with no lease. I have one HD DVR and one HD rec.MY new bill is five dollars more than I thought it would be because this HD dvr pacage is five dollars more than a normal HD pacage. Thanks

You need the DVR service for your DVR to record and for all the other DVR functions (other than basic channel tuning) to work.

If you get a package without the DVR service, your DVR will function as a regular receiver.

I think technically if you have the DVR you have to pay for DVR service. If you bothered to get a DVR, you'll be kicking yourself for not having all DVR's on your acct instead of just a receiver.

The package you want is Choice Extra + HD DVR. It bundles Choice Extra plus HD access plus DVR service at a lower price ($75.99) then buying those three items ala carte.

If you just signed up you get for $54.99 for the first 12 months per the website. You need the DVR for recording but you also need it for the OnDemand service as well. It comes in very handy. With the package that is being discussed the HD and DVR portion is included so you wont see additional fees for these 2 services.

Yeah, that is what my bill says too. I am glad I read this thread because I was wondering if it would be cheaper to lower my package and pay for the DVR and HD separate.

If you buy Choice Extra its $60.99, add HD $10 & DVR $6 it costs $76.99. If you were thinking of downgrading to Choice at $55.99, then adding HD & DVR it would be $71.99. So you could save $4/mo if you downgrade ($75.99 - $71.99).

Well, no it's not. On my bill it is listed as "CHOICE XTRA™ + HD DVR — Locals"
