From the New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/seven/08252009/business/a_sporting_chance_186378.htm):
A WWE representative said plans were still in their infancy, but the company is "exploring the creation of a cable network," and hopes to launch a standalone branded network on the basic -- or most widely available cable tier -- in the next 24 months.

The WWE has yet to discuss its plans for the channel or potential carriage deals with cable or satellite distributors, according to the representative.

From an article in the LA Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2009/08/wwes-vince-mcmahon-wants-to-launch-cable-network.html):"We have a lot of clout that most people don't," McMahon said. While WWE wants its own network, McMahon said he has no plans to take "Raw" off of USA or move any of his other properties.

"It won't be a threat, it'll be an integration," he said, adding, "it's good for `RAW' to be on USA." Of course, McMahon also knows it will also help him in negotiations with his partners. "Having your own network allows you a lot of leverage."

Makes a lot of sense for the WWE. It would force all the major cable operators to carry WWE on a 24/7 basis. He has a vast library of wrestling shows and still provides a weekly live event on the USA network. McMahon is a genius when it comes to marketing his product.
