For the past 4 week it hasn't crashed, or anything!!!

How can i make it refuse updates?

I actually enjoy it now. I was seriously considering Direct Tivo!

but all is fine now :)

Yea, mine has been pretty tame too since I got my free Dish 500 upgrade installed. No missing guides, no barfy tricks, no surprises... I'm dumbstruck!

Probably a sign that many of the problems were in the finicky quide as advertised

Do you mean to tell me that when E* says I'm the only person whose guide slows down when I get to the local channels and I'm the only person who is having slow remote control response they're being truthful?

I know the nonpvr receivers had an option to ask before upgrading.

Both of my dishplayers (running TVs in two bedrooms) have been well behaved for the last 6 months. They are on light duty however.

I just purchased a DP at a yard sale for $40... No outstanding balance, and working HD (but i did upgrade it to an 80 GB hd). I love it... I have a tivo for my main Cable TV, but i love this having recorded shows at full quality. It has been running great for 3 weeks... its great.
