View Full Version : remote control cross talk
I am running two DP301 in the same room, and even though I sometimes just want to operate one receiver, both come on when I use a remote that came with them. How can I avoid this annoying cross-talk, and make each receiver be responsive only to its own remote?

Open up the manual that came with your remotes. It tells you how to change the code of one of them to fix your problem.
WATCH channel 101 it tells you how to use your system.

> Press the SYSTEM INFO button.
> Hold down the SAT button at the top until all of the other lights (TV VCR AUX) light up and release the SAT button (The SAT button should now remain lit)
> Press a number 2-15 into the remote
> Press the # button at the bottom right hand corner of the remote (The Sat button should flash three times afterwards)

If both 301's are in the same room, unplug the one that you're NOT changing.
> Press the RECORD button and you should notice the Remote address to change to the specified number you chose to change it to (2-15)
Thanks, Jacob, clearly your way is the best way to do it. It worked like a charm. How did you know how to do this? I looked through the manuals that came with the system, and could find nothing about this problem.

It's on page 16 of your remote manual, it tells you how to change addresses.

Thanks for that info, but a manual did not come with my remotes, which is strange since I (foolishly) bought each DP301 at different times separated by 6 months. I could not find the manual for the remote on line at the dishnet web site. If you or anyone else can provide a link to the manual for the remote that comes with the DP301, I would appreciate it.

The receiver manuals used to come with the remote instructions right in the main manual then when they came out with the new blue button remotes they started putting an additional manual just for the remote along with the receiver manuals.
I know how to do the above procedures from being a retailer and installer for over 4 years, using Dish Network for going on 6 years, and reading these forums. I have gotten used to having to give detailed instructions on the phone in order to solve customer's problems to prevent me from having to come out to their house for small problems such as this.
