My DMA can beat your DMA! We jumped 5 spots this year, which appears to be the biggest move of anyone.
Watch out Cedar Rapids. You're next! :-)

We dropped 2 spots! Then again with all the job losses in Michigan people are leaving the state. But we only lost 1000 homes but two others gained 2-3 thousand and leap frogged us.
Of course, like any of this matters anyway. :)

Austin's gone from 51 when we moved here in 2006 to 48 now, nice steady increase, Jacksville, you're next. I wonder how much of your DMA's increase was due to more and mor Austin growth going your way???

We're still stuck at 157. :)

We moved up to 62, making it even more pathetic we still don't have HD locals.

SOON my friend, SOON. :)

What does this have to do with DIRECTV? They've never seemed to be all that interested in the rankings.
Let us know when the boundaries change.

Here's a map of the Waco/Temple/Bryan DMA http://www.truckads.com/Affiliate/Waco_Temple_Bryan.htm#map
I don't think much of the growth would come from Austin area sprawl, although I suppose there could be some in southern Bell County.

You're on the list of getting them next I believe.

Still #1. Even though I am in different DMA then my IRDs :D
My market, Charleston-Huntington swaps Athens County, OH with Columbus over and over. We get it this time, moving us up from 65 to 63 and Columbus down from 32 to 34. Really cable there has both sets of channels and you cannot get any TV (other than Ohio U's PBS station) on an OTA basis. Both town's local news massively over-cover Athens and OU sports as a part of the battle.
Most of the large changes can be explained by county shifts. Note the NOLA is refilling, moving up 2 spots. It had dropped like 10.
As to DirecTV, they do not seem to pay much attention. This market was VERY late to get SD locals and they claim they will add HD locals next month. This in a market far larger than others already served earlier, and, a market where the topography and the splitting of the stations among two (relative to the Big Four) and five (in total) towns means OTA reception is very difficult.
My market Joplin/Pittsburg moved up one, not that it makes any difference. I dont predict D* will have my locals anytime soon. As a matter of fact at the speed D* is working on it I am looking more forward to seeing the new SHVERA act being authorized to see if I can get locals from in state or not.

Thanks for this!
My DMA jumped two spots to #145 (from #147).
I'd LOVE to believe it would encourage DirecTV to offer HD-LIL (and SD-LIL) here, but we've been at #145 before...

We're number 32! We're number 32!
Just doesn't have the same ring to it. Must be what it's like to be a Lions fan.

Hmm...#47 is Jacksonville, Florida. I don't think any of your growth is helping it gain homes as well.

Wheeling-Steubenville is still 159. At least we didn't drop any spots. Now as soon as the ice starts moving in the devil's bedroom we may get locals on Directv.

Lansing MI down 1 spot to 115. Still lots of lower DMA that get HD locals. Hopefully D12 will take care of it. I am ok with OTA HD on my main TV but not having the HD locals on the bedroom TV make watching the Letterman, O'Brien, and Kimmel pretty rough.
