Hey all. I have a question concerning adding an additional receiver to my dish. I got the one receiver deal earlier this month and I am totally happy with Dish network. Saying this, I would like to enjoy watching tv in my bedroom. Does anyone know if Dish will send me an additional receiver without charging me 100 bucks??? I realize they charge an additional 4.99 that doesn't bother me. If anyone knows, please feel me in on this? Thank you.

If you had Digital Home Plan you'd be able to get another receiver for the $5 a month. But you don't seem to, so try calling DISH up and maybe they can send you another model 301 (I assume that's what you got) for $49 or some cut price like that.

Consider going down to Costco and buying a PVR-508 for ~$150.00 for your second receiver, PVRs change the way you will approach watching TV. If you do, simply take it home, hook it up, give Dish a call to activate and your set, that is if you dish/switch/cabling setup is ready for a second receiver. Hopefully it is ready to go, otherwise, you have some additional work to do, including running a second coax. There will be a $4.99 a month additional receiver charge on your bill.

Wow, I did not know that Costco had 508's that cheap, thats a great price. Dish will more than likely not cut you a deal on a 301 unless they had some refurbished receivers in which they used to sell for like $59.

Costco is a membership discount warehouse that anyone can join, like Sam's Club if you have those. Costco's are nearly everywhere, but don't know about Kentucky. They do have a web site, Costco.com, check there. It does not appear they have the Dish Network receivers on the site, some stuff is available in their stors only. I can not remember the exact price for the 508, but it was around $150.00.

I did not know that Costco had to have a membership like Sam's Club but I am sure if you save that much on a 508 that it would be worth paying for the membership. I wonder how much their 301 receivers and systems are if they sell the 508 that cheap.

I bought the following within the past two weeks in San Diego County, Calfornia:

Dish 301: $89

Dish 500 with two 301: $179
(It's a Dish PRO; no external switch)

At a local retailor: it was $129 for the 301.

Hook up was easy; I used my existing Dish 500 mast; just changed the eyes.

Costco is a good place to shop, but they wanted $269 or $279 in Atlanta last week for the 508. I got one from Dish for $149 using the good customer promo.

I have the Digital home plan, can I buy a 508 and return one of the 301's I initially received? I would assume I could, but I'm not sure.

You can return one of the 301's I believe after your first year contract is up and buy a 508 to replace it with. Until the first year contract is up you would have to buy a 508 to add onto the account in addition to what you have now keeping that 301 on the account.
