Anyone have the price of the the Wireless and Powerline options for the On Demand for DirecTV?
I emailed and received no real answer. Web site won't allow me to order it until my receiver is installed next week.

Wireless (Linksys WGA600N, probably to be replaced soon by the WET610N) - $79.99
Powerline (85 Mbps HomePlug 1.0 Turbo) - $29.99 ($54.99 for a model built into a power strip with surge protected outlets).
Thanks! I may just run a cat 5 cable. Too bad the DECA system isn't quite available yet!

In my house I got better performance using the Powerline Network Adapters than I did from the Wireless Adapter, but both worked.

Is the powerline faster?

There is no simple answer. The powerline adapters sold by Directv are rated at 85 Mbps. Other types are 14 Mbps and 200 Mbps. Wireless can be a number of speeds, depending on type. Wireless-G is rated at 54 Mbps and wireless-N can supposedly hit 300 Mbps or greater. Actual transfer rates can be half the rated speed or less and the ethernet ports of the receivers are 100 Mbps. The speed you actually get is dependent on your home wiring (powerline) and the distance and number of obstructions between the two ends of a wireless connection.

One thing to make sure is if the outlets you are going to be using the adapters on are on the same circuit. In my case, I wanted to use them in my bedroom as my wireless is not terribly good up there since my router is in the family room. Via the Powerline adapters, I was only able to get 12Mbps, which is actually slower than my wirelss normally gets.
I ended up buying another wireless router and patched it to emulate a wireless network extender so that I now get about 30Mbps up in my bedroom.
