As my graduation gift from my mom, I got the Lexmark X5150 Multifunction printer. 12 hours later I finally get a chance to hook it up. This thing is nice, the copy and scan quality is excellent, I did some text printing but no graphic printing yet. It's also very quiet compared to it's older cousin, a Compaq IJ750 which I've been using for 2 1/2 years now. The scanner is 48 bit with a rez of 600x2400 max and printing rez of 4800 x 1200. One dissappointment, I guess not much has changed in the past 2 1/2 years, printers are still being sold w/o cables, as a temp solution I'm using my 3 ft USB cable I bought a while back for my scanner. I'll need a 12 foot cable sometime next week.

Enjoy...

I hate the cable issue as well. But as long as they state it clearly on the box, I guess I can live with it, instead of them charging me for a cable I can't/won't use.

Eek...

Good luck Steve, but I'm not a huge fan of Lexmark. Never thought their printing quality was on par with Canon or Epson. BUT, you go with what works. Let us know how the printing goes...

Have printers ever come with cables in the last 10 years. I sure can't remember and I sure never have ever seen a USB cable come with them... :p

I picked up the USB 10' cable at WalMart for $25 last week. I used it to print out 20 thank you cards for my graduation party and quality was excellent at full 4800 x 1200 dpi. I guess the only reason my mom chose Lexmark is because of the great success with our two Compaq printers and the overall satisifaction with Compaq in general, even though the Lexmark-Compaq deal was broken by the HP buy out but I still love my Compaq stuff :)
