My wife went to set up her fall "To Do" list and has some recording conflicts (more than 2 shows at one time). Is it possible to do this?

I was thinking a WB68 multiswitch and probably having to use 2 inputs from my reciever to the TV.

Suggestions?

Need a little bit more information. First up you will need a second DVR. Do you already have any other receivers in the house? If no you can run two more coax straight from the dish to new DVR. If yes you will need to use a multi switch. If running 2 new coax to your existing location is impossible or pricey to do you could use a single wire multiswitch (SWM) which allows you to use 1 coax for each DVR and still have 2 tuner function. I think they are still pricey but can make some installs very easy when compared to running new coax. Am not familiar with your receiver, does it do video switching? Do you plan on running both DVR's through it or will one be the wifes box and run straight to tv.

If you have two coax going to your existing HR20, then we'll assume you do not have SWM. Your equipment list indicates you only have the one DirecTV unit (no other receivers or DVRs). In that case, there should be two unused ports on your Slimline dish. You need to run two coax from those ports to your new DVR.

If in fact you do have another receiver, then you will need a multiswitch, and the WB68 is the one you need. It requires all 4 inputs from the dish (you can't use just 2). So if you were thinking you could do this without running more coax from the dish to your living room, not going to work (unless you convert to SWM).

Connecting to the TV, or the rest of your system, would be like adding any other additional unit (blue ray, etc.). Just one more device you need to select to watch. You can use hdmi or component video connections.

Last think is you need to set the second DVR to use the AV1 position on the remote, so that you can control the 2 units individually. That's easy to do, you should be able to just follow the on-screen procedure. You might have to cover the IR receiver on your first/main DVR with an opaque tape while you are setting up the new unit, so it doesn't respond to the remote commands until after the new unit is set up on a different code.

So if I wanted to go this route without running extra feeds, this would work for me?

It could but also depends on what other equipment you have on the account.

Or this:

This "simply" replaces the LNB on the dish.

There is a thread about this here: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=134597

So this LNB would simply replace the one I have? I would still need some sort of multiwsitch/splitter, correct?

If you have a Slimline dish [which most do now], it's a "drop in" replacement and if you careful making the swap, you don't need to realign the dish.
It still needs a PI [for power] and then splitters, as needed, to feed each location/receiver.
I've had both the SWM8 and [currently] the SWMLNB.

Yes this would work if you have a slimline dish with four cable line comming from the dish to the module. then all you would have to do is get a 2 way splitter and jump it off of the SWN port to the splitter and hook up you two existing lines. One for your current HD/DVR and the other for the new one. you can also go a little less expensive and just get a SWM LNB and replace your current LNB with it, but you would still need a 2 or 4 way single port power passive splitter and a power source
