View Full Version : Movers Connection - Pole Mount
I will be moving soon and the new house does not have a dish setup right now. My current house installation is attached to the side of the house.
I would like my new installation to be mounted on a pole for asthetic reasons, plus my wife said so.
I have a two questions:
1. The CSR I originally talked to said that I might have to pay extra since the "pole installation" its not part of the normal installation. Is this correct? Why would installing the pole not be part of "installing" at my new house. If so, how much $$ am I looking at?
2. I have 2 dishes ( slimline & round - for locals ). Can they be mounted on the same pole?
Thanks in advance!

The pole is free if it is required to obtain signal. Yours wouldn't so it will be a custom charge $75 is the norm.

No they can't and they shouldn't. You might need two poles or go without the second dish. Not sure what loclas you get but all locals are being moved off that second dish. So you might be able to go HD only if there is such offer available.
You shouldn't need the 18" round dish nomatter where you move. If you get a MC to a 72.5 DMA, they should automatically upgrade your IRD's to be HD for locals.
I bought the pole myself and they didn't charge extra.

I got the pole for free but I had to put it in cement myself.

When I first had DirecTV installed they put the second dish on the side of the slimline pole mount. I never had any problems with that setup always had good signal for locals. After they swapped out receivers the tech just took the dish off and snipped the coax.
To the OP you might be in a local swap market and required to have HD equipment. Here is the link to the local swap info. www.directv.com/localswap
