Without cheating, how many abbreviations can you figure out:
DMM, LCOS, DLP, CRT, LCD, CGS,OLED, SED? What is a Plasma display? Light valve? :wave:

Off the top of my head:

DLP = Digital Light Processor
LCD = Liquid Crystal Display
CRT = Cathode Ray Tube

Plasma Display, Light valve = not an abbriviation :)

SED= Sound Emitting Diode? :D

Light Valve is a VERY bright projector used in very expensive systems from Honeywell and GE. I installed a GE Talaria (sp?) projector one time using this technology and was quite impressed. Then again, the projector was over $200,000, so I guess I should have been impressed. :D I want one for my living room. Where's that electrician I need to rewire my house?

CRT is now king. Where will it be in 5 years in units sold? Will there be a new king or just a bunch of pretenders? Who will be the new king? Does that technology even exist today?

There's a thread over at AVSForum in the +$5K (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=276829) digital processor section talking about Laser displays. Great reading, it's almost a reality.
