This has happened on both our HD-DVR boxes, this is an example.
I had been watching Fox and CBS earlier, switching with Prev.
So now I am on CBS and press the channel number for NBC, receiver goes to NBC.
I press the Down arrow expecting to go to CBS but it goes to Fox. I press the channel number for CBS and go there. I press the channel number for NBC and go there. I press the Down arrow and the blasted thing goes back to Fox!!
Interesting is that when it goes back to Fox all the buffer is still there even tho I have gone to multiple different channels trying to get Fox out of the loop.
Nothing is recording while this is driving me crazy.
What the blazes am I doing wrong??
Thanks
Are you using the down arrow directly below the yellow "select" button to activate double play?

Activate DP
Tune to NBC
Press down
Tune to CBS
Now you're buffering CBS & NBC, pressing down will flip between those.

Nothing being recorded Shades.
That's exactly what I did Sigma.
When you enter a channel number to change the channel (or use the previous button), you are only changing the channel on the tuner you are currently watching... It's not going to the channel on the other tuner (to do that you need to use the down arrow). You keep going back to FOX because you never changed that channel on that tuner. Rather you are changing between NBC and CBS on the same tuner if I'm reading this correctly.

do you have software version 034C on your boxes?
you never mention getting any prompts so I figured I'd ask.

Hey, no worries.. We all do silly things once in a while.. Heck, I killed my network earlier today, and it took me 30 mins to get it back! :D
You have actually stumbled upon one of the great features of DP.. Enjoy!
