I recently purchased a camper on a semi-permanent site. When I bought it, it already had DirecTV installed, but with two dishes looking in different directions. It's in the Altoona/State College, PA area, so I've assumed one dish is for the Altoona/State College local channels, and the other for all the other "regular" channels.

Since I have DirecTV at home (Philadelphia area locals with Slimline Dish) I took one of my receivers (D12-300) up to the camper for the weekend. Upon hooking it up I was able to get all the channels except for locals.

Other people in the campground are able to get Philadelphia locals with their dish from home, and only use one dish. I also see people at football games watching locals out of their area, as well so I know it's possible.

I don't want to get an installer out as the camper will be moved in the winter and other random weekends throughout the year, but can I disconnect the local dish, and readjust the other dish to get Philadelphia locals. I'm assuming the programming card in my box would prevent me from getting the Altoona/State College locals. Or any other suggestions or ideas?

Thanks for the help!

The Philly SD locals are on the SAME bird/dish as all the national channels, so I have no idea why it's not working out at your camper. It should not even be necessary to disconnect the 2nd dish, as your receiver should just ignore it. If you are getting ALL your national channels, it doesn't sound like a dish alignment issue.

One thought - WHICH kind of slimline dish do you have back home, the SWM dish with only 1 coax output, or the legacy type with 4 leads? If you have a SWM, you might need to rerun dish setup on the receiver each time you take it out there.

Can you tell what the individual dishes are connected to? It must be to some kind of a multiswitch somewhere, and if so what are the inputs to the switch they are connected to labeled as? 72.5? 101? 119? etc.
