View Full Version : HSP vs. O&O
I'd like to discuss the differences between working for an HSP and working for an O&O shop.
Some Topics:
-Are you payed per piece, or hourly?
-What does your payscale/hourly rate look like?
-How does the management at your office treat you as an employee? How does that affect your performance in the field?
-Did you work for an HSP that "converted" to O&O? How was that experience? What are the noticeable differences?

HSP Tech
-per job (but we do get overtime)
-We have 3 levels of pay (and a 4th for elite service techs). We get graded on a scorecard and our level can change every 3 months. Our score from the previous quarter determines our pay for the next quarter
-Like we are slaves. Only affects my performance when they give me a route that looks like a blind monkey threw darts at a map
-No

I'm assuming you're talking about "in-house" techs in both cases. In-house techs are employees, and are provided vans and tools.
This is opposed to contractors, which still do a large percentage of the work at both types of shops.

I'm not provided with any tools. All are purchased/maintained by us with the exception of the birdog/super buddy that they started issuing new techs. I have my own personal birdog but I am using an issued super buddy

Yeah it's such a scattered picture at different HSPs. SOme provide tools, some don't. some have different tech levels and service techs, some don't.
Some have subs, some don't.
