CBS distants paid programming

Here it is early Saturday afternoon (eastern) and both CBS NY and LA (distants for me) have paid programming. Why?

There is no sporting events until 4:00 CDT (5:00 EDT) when Horse racing comes on. My CBS local (KELO) also had a Jack Hanna special they decided to show instead of infomercials for an hour.
