there are so many channels that cover one genre on TV, (ie The Golf Channel) I'd love to see a channel that shows only stand up comedy perhaps a second Comedy Central? :D !pride :welcome:

That reminds me of some that like to watch westerns or some sports that do not subscribe to the package that the westerns channel is on or not subscribing to the sports package. Not having a choice to have a channel with a certain genre would be the difference in this case.
I heard that a reality tv network was coming out a while back but heard nothing more about that.
I think there should be a network that shows nothing but talk shows since there are so many of those out now.
"b" movies 24/7....
philo vance, bulldog drummond, sherlock holmes, boston blackie, and ANY GIANT MUTANT INSECT that crawled out of the desert in the fifties....
before AMC and (to a lesser extent)TMC decided that classic movies NOW come out of the sixties and seventies, i used to love watching those films...oh, well...
also, a 24/7 nigella network would be nice...hehehe

Heh...I'd watch the B Movie Channel...I used to love Commander USA's Groovy Movies...
Although it seems like AMC is turning into that; some of the movies they have been playing recently, I wouldn't call 'classics.' I don't necessarily mind that some of their choices are more recent; I would call Animal House a classic [yes, a slightly different definition of 'classic' than Gone with the Wind, but a classic nonetheless], but some of them are, IMHO, total B [and C, D, etc] movie garbage.
I hope the Anime Channel succeeds and gets more widespread; and that they start showing dub and sub shows/films.
I would vote for a "reality" network, and a talk show [I don't count Letterman/Leno in this genre, I'm thinking Jerry Springer, Oprah, Montel] network; if only so that I could remove those channels from my Favorites list and not have to watch them

Another vote for a Reality network and make it OTA in all 210 markets, so all the reality shows can rot on there instead of poising the networks. Like I've been saying forever now, I'd like to see a music video channel like MTV X, maybe a Fuse spin off diginet, since Fuse knows how to do music unlike MTV.
All 80's movies. Breakfast Club, Wierd Science, Better Off Dead, etc.

Oh yeah that would be like totally awesome dude.
Fast Times @ Ridgemont High
Valley Girls
Night of the Comet
Last American Virgin.
Sixteen Candles.
Or any thing by John Hughes.
I could go on and on.
I pretty much think that the Encore Channel fits the bill well. I've rewatched a LOT of old 80's films on this channel........

A Scifi channel that actually shows Scifi. No more John Edwards and any of the other crap.
Has execs that like space genre series...
I always thought a "sitcoms" channel might work..Showing not just popular shows. There are hundreds of sitcoms out there from the 50's-80's that are never shown anywhere..In fact some havent been seen since they left first-run..I think if Marketed right it would be an interesting niche channel..some examples of programming might be
December Bride
Pete and Gladys
Our Miss Brooks
My Mother the Car
Camp Runamuck
Hank
No Time for Sergeants
The Bing Crosby Show
Wendy and Me..(George Burns)
Private Secretary
Ann Sothern
And you can have others that arent shown as often..Danny Thomas, Mr. Ed, Green Acres, Bob Cummings (Love that Bob) Dobie Gillis.
This idea might sound out there..but I am surprised no one else thought of doing something like this..Realizing there are those that will say there is a reason some of these shows arent seen.(maybe they werent real good)..But I like the idea of seeing certain actors in guest roles before they were famous. And I just would like to see some of the shows I have never seen.

Well if this did happen you would need to keep the playlist fresh
And then if the 80s channel was a big sucess a 90s channel would not be that bad

I think they should come out with a Nick&Nite pre-70's, 70's, 80's, 90's. This would allow for more shows during that decade on each channel concentrating on a certain decade and attract certain age groups to each channel. This would also help them earn more money and provide more tv services. It would be similar to the MTV/VH-1 suite package where they have multiple MTV and VH-1 channels.

That would be cool--there is a lot of old TV that most people today have no idea about [including myself, in many cases.]
Anything from the old Ed Sullivan shows, to Uncle Miltie, to historic news broadcasts [who has actually seen the Kennedy/Nixon debate?]
At least divide Nick@Nite in the later decades; I guess it qualifies, but when I think Nick@Nite or TVLand, I don't think Cosby or Family Ties or Cheers. I'm wanting Patty Duke, Leave it to Beaver, Mary Tyler Moore.
Re: cj9788 ; I don't listen to rap or hiphop or whatever they call the offensive, cursing, misogynist crap that 'the kids' blast while driving with their Neons and Storms that cost half what their subwoofer costs.....but yes, I could go for an 'old-school' station, playing the stuff with reasonably clean lyrics, a sense of humor, and a little actual music to it [RunDMC, Fat Boys, even Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince.]

Give it 2-3 more years and you'll see shows like Full House ( :barf: ) Home Improvement and Who's The Boss on Nick at Nite :(

Yep, I knew that would be coming. There is so much more that they try to get on the channel that there is not enough room for it. They do have TVLand but there still seems to not be enough room because they drop other shows to add new ones on when they should be leaving the old ones on too.
I would be surprised to see them add shows that are already showing on other popular networks because they would be showing the same things they would be. They should have shows that others dont air.
