Managing season passes online

With multiple DVRs around the house (I have four), I tend to distribute my season passes around to ensure I don't have any conflicts (and, someday, I hope I'll be able to view them from one place). That said, it's a real pain when I need to alter them (add new ones, re-balance them, etc.) Has DirecTv ever indicated that they'll add the ability to manage season passes on-line (and/or via their iPhone app)?

Ideally, it would be nice to be able to type in a search (to add new recordings - much easier than hunting and pecking on-screen or using triple-tap) and to be able to move a season pass from one DVR to another by dragging (or some equally simple method).

Even if they could start with a list of season passes organized by DVR (or perhaps sortable by a number of factors, like channel). That would save time of having to go from room to room to catalog them.

Just my $0.02. Any other ideas/suggestions?

Unfortunately there is no way for DirecTV to currently know what you have set up as SL's on your receivers. Maybe at some point they'll allow access to the DVR settings via the web, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. It would probably be more of a possiblility when they release their whole-home DVR solution.

I wonder if there could be a future enhancement using Network Services where you could remotely access your own receiver and do this, i.e. not relying on D*'s website to be the proxy.

It is not technologically impossible at all. On the contrary it would be fairly easy to implement, but may raise too many security concerns.

Good to know that it's not impossible to implement. If they added the ability to opt-in, that may allay some security concerns. On the other hand, even f it slipped out, it's not like information about what I am recording is terribly private information (unless I'm not seeing something here).

I think if you are networked they should be able to send your SL information to your online account.

It would probably be fairly easy to set up using the same type of web based access that an HP network printer or a router uses.

I would love this feature on DIRECTV.

I'm surprised that the Comcast TiVO service beats out DIRECTV and Tivo.com for how it manages recordings. Its more inline with Moxi, allowing you to see the todo list, edit season passes, re-arrange priority, etc all through a browser.

I'm sure we'll all see this sooner or later. It's a nice thing to have for sure.

I'd like to see a Series Link web management interface as well. I'd also love to see the 50 series link limit removed.

It is very aggrivating, not to mentiomn time consuming to reset up series recordings on a replacement STB if your so happens to fail.

It is just as aggrivating, if not more so, to have to remove series in order to add more shows to the series recording list since it's has been capped at a max of 50 since the HRx DVR's release.

I constantly find myself having to remove series that are currently off air in order to make room for new ones. The disadvantahe being that when they come back on, you enividable miss at least the season premier of said show(s).
