I have a Winegard Traveller on my RV. I installed a SWM-8 and I am getting power to it. The receivers detect the SWM, but there is no signal from the dish. Everything reads 0. Also, I am using a 4-way power passing splitter.
I am on my way to the store to buy something to test the cables from the dish.
Any ideas? I've been working on this all day!

How did you align the dish? Try connecting one of your Receivers directly to the dish output cable. I'm guessing your dish isn't seeing the satellite.

Thanks. I connected the receiver directly and it works. I also bought a meter and tested all of the cables and they are all okay. I am perplexed.

Is your dish a KaKu model or Ku only? I'm not sure that the SWM8 will work unless it's connected to a KaKu dish.

The Traveler is a Ka/Ku dish, ensure your receiver is set for the proper dish configuration.

SWM will work with any (DirecTV) dish. However you will only get channels that the dish is able to receive.

I will assume that you have the Slimline (KaKu) model Traveler, the SK-3005.
This is the same as a slimline dish used at home. Connecting the SWM-8 should be the same as a home install. 4 cables from the dish outputs to the SWM-8 inputs. Make sure you use the correct inputs, there are two marked "Flex" that you do not use.
Did you remember to install the SWM-8 Power inserter? It almost sounds like you didn't.
There can sometimes be issues with getting the receivers to recognize SWM. Try unplugging the receivers and the SWM power inserter, then raise the antenna and make sure it locks on to the satellite. The control unit display will say "DIRECTV SLIMLINE" and "*101 *110 *119" when the dish is ready.
Now plug in the SWM power inserter. Wait about 30 seconds, then plug in one of the receivers. The TV screen should show progress, and should load the satellite info. If it does, you're good. Repeat for any other receivers.
I assume that all your receivers or DVRs are SWM compatible? R16, R22, H2x, HR2x, D12?

Yes, that's correct.

Good here...I'm not using the "flex" ones.

Sorry, forgot to mention that. Yes, I did.

Thanks...I will be working on the issue tomorrow evening or Monday. I will try these steps.

Yes.
Thanks, everyone for the input.

If the Receiver works fine connected directly to the satellite dish, but does not work with connected via the SWM8, then it sounds like you have a defective SWM8.

With RVs they will think nothing of hiding a splitter and or using RG59 coax. The ports used as outlets often have twist on fittings.
Just thought I would pass on some last resort things to check.

I finally got it working. I reversed the polarity on one of the connections. I appreciate everyone's input.

Reversed the polarity on what connection???
The polarity........where the dish is attached........without forward and reverse bearings the polarity will fail. Red Green explained this....were you not paying attention?
